Gerda Saunders, Author “Memory’s Last Breath: Field Notes on My Dementia”
Gerda Saunders was a University of Utah professor when she realized she was experiencing symptoms of early-onset dementia. As her mind slowly deteriorated, she began documenting her condition. These “field notes” became the book “Memory’s Last Breath,” which has garnered rave reviews from The New York Times, NPR, and readers everywhere. Gerda joins the Blacksite to tell us about her experience with dementia, as well as her struggle to live and plan for death within the regulations of the American health care system. If you’re anything like us, you’ll be moved by her story. Don’t miss this one.
